I just graduated in May. I have a part time job in my field and I waitress (bulk of pay in tips). I have applied to numerous places to refinance my horrible Sallie Mae loans. I have been declined by all. My parents are the only co-signers and their credit is not good. Maybe because of co-signing for all my line and my brothers student loans. Any recommendations on where I can refinance or suggestions on what to do?
I’m so depressed!!!!

Hi MaryKate,

Refinancing is super frustrating because the people who would benefit the most from doing it often have the hardest time getting approved.

There are a couple of easy things you can do that might improve your application, and there are some more challenging steps that will definitely help your cause. This link covers in detail the steps that can be taken to turn a refinance rejection into an approval.

Hopefully that article can provide you with some helpful tips. If any of it is confusing or doesn’t make sense, please let me know.

Best wishes,
