Hi I want to recertify my IBR with fedloan servicing by uploading documents. I have been living abroad the last two years and my AGI is very low as im using the foreign income exculsion. When I asked fedloan servicing how much of my return they want me to upload they said first two pages of my 1040 for the 2017 tax year even though the first page has line 37 which is the agi. I will pay they same amount anyway but i am wondering do they want me to upload the first two pages of the 1040 to say that my agi is not my true income? or am i just being paranoid.
Also, can I recertify using the irs datalink tool? how much of the return data do they share with fedloand servicing.

Very interesting questions Joseph.
I’m not sure why they would ask for two pages if they only need the first page to find the AGI. They may ask for two just to make sure that people don’t accidently just send a cover sheet.
As far as your questions on the datalink tool… your concern is well founded as they previously had security issues with that tool, though they should be resolved. I personally use the datalink tool as I think it is the fastest route and has the lowest risk of human error, but I don’t know what specific tax information they are getting. It would seem that just the AGI should be sufficient, but I can’t say for certain.
Thanks for the reaponse. Would you worried about them not usiing just the agi. I have a non us citizen spouse abroad she has no us tax number and i dont have access to her income.
