I was wondering if anyone knows any private student lenders that gives loans to those with little to no income. My girlfriend is in college right now and took out all the federal loans available. She is an adult student with decent credit but no savings. She also doesn’t have anyone who is able to cosign for her. So anyone know of some lender who can help? Thanks.
I don’t personally know of any lenders that will give loans with little to no income. The exact formulas that lenders use is typically a closely held secret.
I’d first caution you about the dangers of student loans. Sometimes not getting one may be for the best. However, if your girlfriend has done the math and is capable and prepared to make that commitment, I do have a little bit of further advice… I’d apply at a number of places. With her decent credit, she is likely concerned about a number of denials hurting her credit score, however, if she plans ahead, she will not get hurt too bad. This is because the credit bureaus know that when people apply for a number of loans in a short period of time, they are simply shopping for the best rates. Her best bet might be to put together a list of possible lenders and apply to them all. Based upon the results, she can pick and choose the company with the best rates and the best terms.
Here at the student loan sherpa we are in the early stages of reviewing some of the private loans currently available. If you are interested, we do have a reviews that might be worth looking over:
