Greetings everyone!

I started this little forum as a place for an exchange of ideas. As this place grows, my hope is that people will be able to come here to learn, debate, vent, and save money.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for making it better, please let me know!

Greetings: Finally….someone willing, and able, to begin addressing this topic. I began taking needed student loans in the 80’s. Most guaranteed but others not. After graduating in the 90’s, I began repaying, sending payments monthly for over 4 years. Then I went back to school, took a loan and began a divorce. Make a long story short, I divorced and dropped out of school ABD status. To this date I have repayed all that I borrowed with some unknown amount of interest. At one point, for over three years, they garnished wages at 15%. I repaid app. 600 monthly which did not even match fines, fees, interest, etc. My only option was to pay the entire amount (now 60,000 from an original of 28,000) in order for garnishment of wages/taxes and ability to have access to education records.
At this point I have been disabled for approximately 3 years and they just now acknowledged my disability and informed me I was being monitored for 3 years. What happens after that? What if I inheret something? Is there anyone who has information about this. Can I encourage them to move the deadline to date of disability? Moreover, is there someway I can provide assistance to this forum?

Is this last loan a federal loan or a private loan? Also, what state are you in?
