Also Lied to About PSLF

Went to school for P

I worked for colleges, so I didn’t have any issue getting certification letters for the PSLF eligibility. I was on IBR, had a very low income (28k to 38k the entire time), and I have completed 9 years. One month ago, I began being garnished: no warning, no letters, no notification. I did file with the CFPB, and I have also indicated I am willing to go to Court over this. I was the person who certified income for IBR eligibility for all years the program has been in effect (since 2007), and they now come after me, claiming I don’t have ONE SINGLE payment on file. I dropped everything for three weeks and have spent hours on the phone. Each time you talk to someone, it is a different story. This is the biggest scam in our nation’s history, and I expect the fallout will be worse than the mortgage crisis. To go after PSLF people is insane. My income was kept so low for so long, and I am now middle aged; forcing this group of people to either start over in the program or require them to pay in full is not practical, nor possible. After filing with CFPB, ECMC stood by its decision, even though they’ve violated a tremendous amount of laws. There are complaints filed on them each and every day. All I can say is: Keep all of your paperwork. Scan it, keep it on multiple USB’s, keep multiple hard copies. I kept all of my documents in a safety deposit box, and even though I don’t know if it will make a difference, I am still happy to have them and to know that I am not the crazy one here.

Same thing happened to me! I think the poop is about to hit the fan! Yes, this should be BIG NEWS!!! I’m doing a daily Facebook rant on student loans. I’ll be 67 years old when and if my loans are ever forgiven. Have to delay my retirement now – paid for 10 years and just last month found out NONE of my payments count. I’ve been raped by Navient is all I can say. You are not alone – there are 1000’s of us across the country and they are fixing to hear about it loud and clear after October when more people get the crappy letter of denial.
