can I refinance private loans while living abroad

Hello, Life has not gone to plan in many ways. Long story short, I live in England and am unable to make my US private student loan payments due to the cost of childcare for my young twins. For the past several months, the payments have been auto-debiting from my US checking account, and when that is found wanting, it takes it as OD from an associated credit card. In other words, the reality is that my student loan debt is quickly becoming mounting credit card debt. I have just turned off the auto-debit feature on my student loans. I have no other forbearance options with the lender, and I am considering going into default in order to obtain some relief. Others have suggested that I refinance, but I have yet to find a company that will refinance private student loans while I have a UK address and not a US address. Are you aware of any options? Could you please give me other advice? I want to pay, but until my children are school age, it will continue to be a problem for me and I need to get it under control.
